You and your family are cordially invited to our Fall Play, The Old Man and the Old Moon, performed by students in elementary, middle, and high school from November 20-22 in the ASFG Auditorium.
The Old Man and the Old Moon is a musical folktale by PigPen Theatre Co. about an Old Man whose job is to fill the moon with light. When his wife is lured away by a mysterious melody, he abandons his post for a grand sea-faring adventure to find her. The play uses indie-folk music, storytelling, and inventive shadow and object puppetry to tell a story about the conflict between duty and love, and the fear of change.
Second-year drama student Jett Jaquith is in the process of masterfully developing his character, the title role as The Old Man. Jett reflects, “The theater program here at ASFG embodies the heart of acting. I've learned the ins and outs of how to act, speak and feel in theater. When I act here, I feel free, like I can be anything or anyone on stage; it's a stellar experience and I'm glad I joined. In our current show, The Old Man and The Old Moon, we have worked to train our voices, sharpen specific skills, learn the whole story and what makes it magical, and put ourselves into the character. My character, The Old Man, is a selfish and devious man, but also warm hearted if you really get to know him, so I've worked to fit his character, and the whole cast is ready to make this story magical.”
The Old Man and The Old Moon is a wonder-filled adventure show, appropriate for all ages. Tickets are for sale in the following link and in the early childhood, elementary, middle school, and high school offices at ASFG; purchasing your tickets in advance is encouraged.
