This conference is designed for parents of early childhood and elementary students who wish to better understand and support their children's emotions. It will cover topics such as the brain’s response to stress, attachment, parenting styles, and the difference between tantrums and emotional meltdowns. Parents will gain practical tools and valuable insights to help them manage their own emotions and effectively support their children’s emotional regulation. The session also includes positive parenting strategies to foster healthy emotional development and strengthen parent-child connection. The conference will be delivered in Spanish, with slides in English.

Understanding the importance of emotional self-regulation in adults: Parents will learn to identify and manage their own emotions as a fundamental foundation for guiding their children with empathy
Recognizing and validating their children's emotions: They will be taught how to identify the different emotions children experience, understand the underlying causes, and support those emotions without minimizing or punishing emotional expression
Applying practical emotional regulation strategies at home: They will learn simple and effective techniques that can be implemented in daily life to help their children calm down, name their feelings, and gradually learn to self-regulate
Strengthening the bond with their children through positive parenting: They will discover how to build a relationship based on respect, emotional connection, and clear boundaries, fostering a more harmonious and safe family environment

Gloria Jimenez
After 16 years as the Early Childhood Psychologist at ASFG, Gloria Jimenez is now the Head of School Counseling. She holds a Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in School Counseling from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Her years of experience have shown her the powerful role parents play in their children’s growth and she values the shared learning that conferences like this one make possible.
Cynthia Gomez
With 12 years of experience as a nursery teacher, Cynthia Gomez is passionate about supporting the social-emotional development of children. She helps families strengthen their bonds through empathy, respectful parenting, and emotional awareness. Cynthia believes that when children feel safe, they can express themselves and learn to manage their emotions. Her classroom is a space where every child feels heard and valued—and she guides parents to create that same environment at home.
