Learning Excursions
Learning excursions at ASFG are an important part of the students’ learning experience. These trips provide a real-world connection to what students have been learning in the classroom, as well as broadening their perspective of the world. Such moments become unforgettable experiences that strengthen bonds throughout each generation of students and between students and staff. The trips organized for fourth grade through eighth grade last from three to six days and are all conducted within Mexico in places such as Mazamitla, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Cuernavaca, Puerto Vallarta, and Cancun.
Week Without Walls (WWW) at ASFG is a required week-long program for high school students which involves outside-of-the-classroom learning experiences that take place on or off campus, nationally or internationally. It is a program that provides exciting learning opportunities for our students as well as opportunities for friendships to develop. The WWW program has a robust history at ASFG that has seen students visit countries such as Germany, Greece, Hungary, Peru, Poland, Scotland and various cities in the United States like Boston, New York, and Washington, DC. ASFG high school students also visit various places in Mexico and participate in workshops at ASFG that have included Crime Scene Investigation, Cooking, and African Drum Making among a myriad of choices available every school year. The WWW experience is curriculum based, providing students with hands-on-learning experiences and real-world connections to curriculum.
