Lupita Vázquez, Principal's Secretary
Hi! My name is Norma Guadalupe Vázquez, but everybody calls me Lupita. I am the Principal’s administrative assistant and this is my 8th year working at the ASFG. I am proud to be part of such an amazing team. Helping kids, parents and teachers in Middle School is truly a rewarding experience. Sharing my time with the Middle School community has given me the opportunity to learn every day and to enjoy life every minute. I love languages, I studied English for 7 years and I am planning to go back to school to continue studying French. At present, I study World History. In my spare time, I love going to the movies and dancing, I am a belly and a hula teacher. I strongly agree with the following quote: “Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.”
Alejandra Diaz, MS Office Assistant
Hello, my name is Alejandra Diaz. I was born in Puebla but my family and I moved to Guadalajara when I was three years old, so I feel "Tapatia". I studied High School, English and Technology. I love painting using pastel technique, swimming, reading and writing. In fact some of the things I have written have been published in the newspaper. I worked for almost seven years at the Autónoma in the Students Exchange Department. During that time I had the opportunity to meet people coming from United States, Canada, Japan, Korea, Italy, France and Denmark. That one was a very rewarding experience because I had the possibility to learn from different cultures. I feel very happy to work at the ASFG because I have the opportunity to know different people and learn different things. Everybody has made me feel like home!
Caleb Cook, Substitute Teacher
Hi, I’m Caleb Cook, though most of my students call me “Mr. Cookie”. After working for Hewlitt Packard in Guadalajara for a year, I accidentally joined ASFG Middle School. It turns out this is the perfect place to have landed, as I’m constantly surrounded by chaos, hormones and drama...three of my favorite things! You can often find me being a “guest teacher,” helping teachers with their plans, bugging the office staff, or tutoring students one-on-one after school. No matter what I’m doing, you can be sure that I’m having fun, and that’s the most important thing I bring to the classroom with me...well, other than candy.
Tere Hernandez, Technology Lab / Art Assistant
Hi, I'm María Teresa de Jesús Flores Rubio. I’m a house wife and have two children and am a grandma of four wonderful girls. I love going shopping and reading. I’ve been in this school for seven years. I’ve always been a teacher assistant in Technology and also used to be in an assistant in Art. I consider myself a very positive person and do my work the best I possibly can. I’ve studied in the USA at Our Lady of Guadalupe Academy in California and have been an English teacher for about 17 years in a local government school, where I teach students from 1st to 6th grade after school. In my spare time I like cooking or baking cakes with my granddaughters. I also like to do handicrafts and decorations especially for parties. I enjoy working in this school because I have the opportunity to practice my English and get better ideas to teach English in an easier way to poor children.
Kathy Gómez, Science Lab Assistant
Hi, I am Kathy Gómez and I and proud to be part of the American School Foundation of Guadalajara for the past 19 years. I am originally from San Pedro Sula, Honduras, but I have lived in Mexico for 30 years. I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and a Master in Education degree from Framingham State College. As a Science Lab assistant, I have the opportunity to directly interact with the students while observing their appreciation for science. Throughout the years, I have noticed the curiosity that science creates among students and how they can learn through fun and dynamic experiments. Even seniors today have memorable stories about the science lab and how it helped with their academic development. I am glad to be a part of that learning experience.
Mauricio Meneses, Substitute Teacher
Hi! My name is Mauricio Meneses and I am very excited about teaching at the ASFG. I was born in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua. I moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1985. In 1995 I moved to Carrolton, Texas with my family. I studied a career in Social Work and achieved a Master's degree in Social Psychology at the Universidad de Guadalajara. I have taught in several grades that range from 5th to 12th (including some courses for college students).
To be honest, I never expected to become a teacher. My main dream was to play professional soccer in Mexico (which I did for about two years in Monarcas, Morelia and
U de G ). While studying my career I taught some English classes and teaching caught me forever. I have taught in many different schools in Guadalajara, but I am sure that there is nothing like teaching ASFG students.
I still play soccer with my friends, and I also like reading, traveling, spending time with my family, listening to music and going to the movies.
Greetings!
