Schedules

Our regular school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m.  The day is divided into eight periods of 44 minutes each, with five minutes of passing between each period.  Many of our classes, particularly in grades 5 & 6, are scheduled in two-period blocks of 90 minutes. Every other week our classes run in a "Forward" and then "Reverse" schedule.  For example, one week classes begin with Period One in the morning through Period Eight in the afternoon, then the following week classes begin with Period Eight in the morning through Period One in the afternoon.  This type of flexible scheduling benefits student learning, as the same classes will not always be held at the end of the day when students and teachers are tired, and flexible scheduling is recommended by the National Middle School Association for use in exemplary middle schools.
