Estimados padres de familia de Kinder:

Me complace invitarles a la junta para padres de alumnos de Kinder el día martes 18 de mayo para hablar acerca de la próxima transición a Pre-Primero para sus hijos. Esta reunión la encabezará Miss Dawn Hernández, Directora de Primaria y se llevará a cabo en el auditorio de la escuela de 8:15 a 9:15 a.m.

La siguiente semana comenzaremos con la orientación a Pre-Primero para los niños de Kinder. Los alumnos visitarán los salones de Pre-Primero los siguientes días:

lunes 24 de mayo                K-9 y 10 visita P1-7
martes 25 de mayo             K-3         visita P1-10 
miércoles 26 de mayo          K-7         visita P1-9
jueves  27 de mayo             K-6         visita P1-6
viernes 28 de mayo             K-8         visita P1-11 

Nuestros alumnos de Kinder visitarán los salones de Pre-Primero con su grupo acompañados por la  maestra asistente.  Permanecerán ahí por un período de dos horas y media por la mañana. Ellos tendrán la oportunidad de participar tanto en las clases de inglés como en las de español impartidas por las maestras de Pre-Primero, comer refrigerio y tener su recreo en el área de Primaria. Les pedimos que ese día los niños traigan su lonchera como de costumbre.

Mientras que los alumnos de Kinder visitan Pre-Primero, los alumnos de Pre-Primero visitarán el área de Preescolar y hablarán con las maestras de Kinder, para que ellos mismos nos den “tips” para nuestros alumnos sobre cómo hacer más fácil la transición a Primaria.

Nuestras maestras de Kinder han estado hablando con los niños sobre esta transición a Pre-Primero y ellos han mostrado mucho entusiasmo. Los invito a que hablen con sus hijos y conozcan su sentir acerca de su ida a Pre-Primero, así como las impresiones que tuvieron sobre su visita. Si observan cualquier temor en su hijo acerca de este cambio, háganle saber que habrá cosas nuevas que aprender y nuevas experiencias maravillosas que pasarán en Primaria.

Basados en los comentarios de nuestros padres de familia, les ofrecemos a ustedes las siguientes sugerencias:

•  Comiencen a llevar a sus hijos al área de juegos de Primaria para que se vayan sintiendo más cómodos en la sección.
•  Lleven a sus hijos a que compren comida en la cafetería de Primaria.
•  Enséñenle a sus hijos a que sean más responsables con su lonchera, chamarras y artículos personales.

Aprovecho esta oportunidad para felicitarlos por el progreso que sus hijos han mostrado este año en Kinder. ¡La sección de Preescolar se siente muy orgullosa de nuestros alumnos de Kinder y esperamos que en un futuro nos compartan acerca de sus éxitos en Primaria!

Dear Kinder Parents,

I would like to invite kinder parents to a meeting on Tuesday, May 18th to discuss your child’s upcoming transition to Elementary.  The meeting will be led by Ms. Dawn Hernandez, our school’s Elementary Principal, and will be held in the school’s auditorium from 8:15 – 9:15 a.m. 

At the end of the month we will begin our pre-first orientation for kinder students.  Kinder classes will visit a pre-first classroom on the following days:

Monday, May 24                 K-9+10 visit P1-7
Tuesday May 25                 K-3       visits P1-10
Wednesday, May 26            K-7       visits P1-9
Thursday, May 27               K-6       visits P1-6
Friday, May 28                    K-8       visits P1-11  

Kinder students will visit pre-first together as a class with the teacher assistant. The students will stay for two and a half hours in the morning and have an opportunity to be part of both an English and Spanish class given by pre-first teachers as well as to eat lunch and play during the pre-first/first grade recess. We are asking that the children bring a bag lunch or lunch box as normal. 

While kinder students are in Elementary, the pre-first students will visit our Early Childhood section to spend some time with our kinder teachers and collect some tips for our students about the move to Elementary. 

Our kinder teachers have been talking to students about the transition to pre-first and the students are excited. I encourage you to talk to your child about his/her feelings about going to pre-first and of the impressions your child has from their visit.  Acknowledge any fears your child may have reassuring him/her that there will be new things to learn and wonderful new experiences to be had in Elementary.

Based on feedback we’ve had from parent surveys we can offer the following suggestions for our parents: 

• Begin taking your child to the Elementary playground in the afternoons so s/he can become comfortable with the section.
• Allow your child to buy food in the Elementary cafeteria.
• Teach your child to become more responsible for their lunchboxes, coats, and personal items.

I will take this opportunity to congratulate all of you on the progress your child has made this year in kinder.  The Early Childhood staff is very proud of our kinder students and will look forward to learning about their future successes in Elementary!
